New Articles for MusicianWages
Over these last few weeks I've published two new articles on MusicianWages, a website I run with my friend Dave Hahn. The first, How To Find Work as a Gigging Musician walks through everything I know about developing professional skills as a musician and then finding work. It's not an easy career by any means, but if you work hard and have a little bit of luck, it's very rewarding way to make a living. That's basically what MusicianWages is all about, so I've dropped many links in that article to help you find helpful resources from many other musicians that have contributed to the site.
The next article, Spotify From a Musician's Perspective shares some of my thoughts on a new music service that allows you to listen to as much music as you'd like for very little money. As a result, the royalties paid to the artists and labels that own the music is very, very low. This is somewhat of a concern for me, not so much because of my own finances, but because it can potentially change the way our culture values music.
If you're interested in either of those articles, please stop by MusicianWages to read them and check out the rest of the site while you're over there. Dave and I have been putting a lot of work into it and are proud of the growing community of working musicians that stop by and discuss their own careers in music.
