It's been a very busy summer, especially July and August. I've been playing in uptown Manhattan quite a bit, and I mean way uptown in Washington Heights and Inwood with the Spanish rock band Shotcafe. I'll also be in New Jersey later this month with Stellar Ego and you might find me playing at Rent once or twice more before it closes on September 9th. As always, you should check my calendar for upcoming shows. What about the trio? Earlier this year I started writing new music, but that has been put on the back burner somewhat unintentionally as my schedule picked up. Brad has also been on the road with Regina Spektor, and it just wouldn't be the same band without him. But I'll get back to that business in the fall and have plenty of material ready for slower winter months when Brad, Kenneth and I will probably have more time to work.
There is new music in the works, though, via When We Were Six, my collaboration with vocalist Calley Bliss. We recorded five original songs on her recent visit to Brooklyn, and will continue recording across the country (she lives in Boise).
On the web I'll have a few new lessons for Woodshed Wednesday posting this month, and I'm starting a series of interviews with working musicians on MusicianWages.com. Collectively these interviews should demystify the careers of professional musicians. I've also been teaching more guitar lessons over Skype. It's pretty amazing to be able to teach people guitar across the country, or even across the city! If you're interested in a lesson, shoot me an email.
That's the latest! Hope you're enjoying your summer and making it out to see some great live music!
