127023946I am available to teach guitar and mandolin lessons in New York City and over Skype.

Over the last 15 years, I have taught private guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. After years of performing and recording with other artists, I’ve accumulated a great deal of experience on mandolin and can now offer mandolin lessons to beginning and intermediate students.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, private guitar lessons can help you improve faster and get more enjoyment out of playing guitar.

Learn these skills in your guitar and mandolin lessons:

  • Play your favorite songs
  • Teach yourself songs by ear
  • Read music
  • Write your own songs
  • Play solos and improvise
  • Music theory
  • Much, much more, just ask!

60 minute lessons in your home start at $80. Discounts available for group lessons and students that come to me (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn).

Lesson Policies:

Practicing: To make sure students make weekly progress, I highly recommend at least 15 minutes of focused, daily practicing for beginners. Repetition is key to learning the guitar, and with good practice habits, students will amaze themselves with their improvement. Read more about How To Practice Guitar.

Payment: Lessons are paid for in advance on a monthly basis at the first lesson of every month, excluding your very first lesson (let’s make sure we like each other, first!).

Referrals: Earn credit for one free lesson when you refer a new student that signs up for a month of lessons.

Cancellations/Make-up Lessons: If you must cancel a lesson, 24 hour advance notification is required. Make-up lessons may be scheduled later with proper notification and pending my availability. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

If for some reason I need to cancel a lesson, I will usually be able to give you at least a week’s notice and will not charge you for missed lessons. I can also send a substitute teacher if you don’t want to miss a week of one on one instruction.

I understand that children get sick, emergencies happen, and some students or parents are reluctant to pay for lessons they might miss. Please realize that you are paying for my time whether or not you use it. For another parent’s perspective on make-up lessons, please read “Make-up Lessons From An Economist’s Point of View.”
