What do I get with my pre-order?

Along with the music, there are a few other cool items that can be yours with a little extra support.

All pre-orders will receive a unique code for immediate* download of the album and will be shipped a CD upon availability. Any package above $20 gets a signed CD.
Junior’s Swamp Sauce Hot Sauce is a custom label, super exclusive, limited edition bottle of Red Savina habenero hot sauce. Each bottle will be held in front of a magical amplifier and imbued with extra funky vibes.
Tributary T-Shirts designed by Philip Manning, and printed by my friends at STL-Style on 100% cotton tees by Canvas or Bella. I’ll keep the funky vibes off the clothing.
Sheet Music for all the tunes on Tributary for guitar, keyboards, and drums. These are the exact arrangements we used in the studio on the album and play live. If a note doesn’t match between the album and music, is the mistake on the recording or sheet music? We may never know.
Other Goodies will ship with the All Star Package and may include extra cool CDs, DVDs, custom guitar picks, or other momentos associated with the album. The CDs and DVDs will be chosen at random from my huge collection of (mostly) unopened jazz reissues and box sets from my time working at a record label. Somehow I ended up with duplicates of many albums I worked on and would like to find them a new home!

*I will be personally emailing you your download code. In most cases you will receive it within 24 hours, but under special circumstances there may be a delay. I’ll keep you informed! Once you have the code, the album will be ready to download!

Why pre-order?

By pre-ordering Tributary, you are directly helping me complete an entirely independent project. This is the most important point I can make, and the only one that matters: You are supporting independent artists.

This is not really about how much I think my music should cost–I’m sure you could wait a while and eventually find it for free–rather this is about how much you think the music, the artwork, the performances, and the creativity is worth. Up to this point, everything has been funded by gigs, sales of past albums, and whatever else I do as a musician. There have been no loans and no label backing the album. Everyone that has been hired for this the project, from the other musicians to the recording studio to the designer, are also freelancers and small businesses, hustling so they can keep making great art. In other words, your support goes a long way into the independent creative community.

So, exactly why am I doing this? The album is not completely funded, and that’s where you come in. I cannot begin production on the CDs until I raise roughly another $1,000. I could wait another month or two as I save my money, but since all the time intensive creative work is done, I feel like together, we can push this to the finish line a little faster.

When will the orders ship?

CDs, t-shirts, hot sauce, and everything else will ship as soon as they arrive at my apartment. I will not be able to complete my orders until I have either raised enough money via this pre-order or saved up using the same hard work that’s behind every other dollar spent on this album. Either way, I’m hoping to ship by early to mid August. If any items are significantly delayed, I will ship them at a later time at my own expense.

But remember, a high quality download will be sent to you within 24 hours of your order so you can start listening to the music right away!

If I don’t pre-order, can I still get a CD?

Of course! Once I have CDs in my hands, they will be available to purchase directly from me or CD Baby. However, by pre-ordering you’ll get a download right away and still get a CD when they’re available. All for about the same price.

What if I just want a digital download?

Tributary will be available to buy on iTunes, Bandcamp, and anywhere else digital music is sold on July 20. But the CDs themselves are going to look great, and by spending just a little more money now, your support goes much further.

Do I need a Paypal account?

No. You can place your order with a credit or debit card without ever logging into Paypal. The advantage to using Paypal is that the transaction is safe for you, and affordable for me. Virtually all the money you spend goes to the cause. When you click on one of the buttons above and are taken to Paypal, there is an option to complete the checkout without needing to log in.

How much is shipping?

CDs ordered alone will ship USPS first class in CD mailers for $2.50, all other orders will ship in USPS Priority flat rate boxes for $5. Shipping charges will be added at checkout. International orders will need to pay an additional shipping fee by also choosing the last option above.

How many people help you do all this stuff?

If I cook an extra special dinner, I might be able to convince my wife to give me a hand! But even with two of us it might be a lot of work. I appreciate your patience once orders are ready to ship. I hope to be buried in shipping materials the day the CDs arrive!
